Outdoor shower design ideas
As we head into renovating the back of our house, my thoughts are centred around function. Living close to the beach, our house can be a sand covered, salty mess. I love this aspect of where we live, but I’m excited to take the opportunity to consider how we make our house function for the area and lifestyle our family enjoys.
This brings me to my outdoor shower dream. We are planning on building an outdoor shower next to our backdoor (leading into the mudroom) to wash off before we enter our home. I can’t wait to share the process of creating our little outdoor shower oasis.
Tiled designs
Our outdoor shower will most likely be wall mounted on the exterior wall of our mudroom. This means we have an opportunity to utilise that wall to create a space that feels dedicated to the shower using tiles.
Mounted to Exteria cladding
Another option we have is to mount our shower onto the exterior cladding for a simple, clean feel. This can create a more understated, seamless look to the outdoor shower.
A coastal vibe
Using materials that are common to your local environment can allow spaces to blend in and give a sense of place. These materials could be natural stone, weathered wood, bamboo etc. We live in a coastal area but this can be applied anywhere.
Next up: Planning & execution
We are in the idea gathering stage, next up we need to enter the planning and execution phase. There will be sustainability and functional considerations which I’m excited to explore.
